Registered in 1913, the Lello brand is part of the history of Sociedade dos Vinhos Borges. The brand’s name harks back to its origins: the Lello family, more specifically Artur Lello and his son, Carlos Lello. Early on, these two joined the Borges family in the management of the company and contributed in a major way to embedding the know-how and art of making good wine.

The name Lello has been kept on as a tribute to the family.

It has a smoky character, with soft notes of vanilla, due to aging in wood, which provides a distinct elegance, sophisticated complexity and a unique balance. In the mouth the wine is intense and full-bodied, with excellent volume and a balanced acidity that gives it a striking freshness. It presents very present fine tannins in a long and persistent finish.

The grapes are gently pressed on arrival at the winery and only the free-run must is used, which is clarified by flotation. Fermentation is then begun at controlled temperatures between 16 - 18ºC.
